“As a supervisor, I aim to understand what therapists want and need help with to develop. People are different and need some things more than others. I adapt to this as well ensuring that supervision remains compassionate and honest. I’ll give you direct feedback and help you remain confident to keep growing, refreshing your knowledge and refining your skills through role-play and experiential exercises.”
What others are saying?
Jim is a knowledgeable and competent practitioner, teacher and supervisor. He is committed to helping supervisees grow. He is warm, genuine, empathic and respects his supervisees as individuals and as developing professionals. Jim has been an extremely valuable source of knowledge and support and played a vital role in my development as a confident professional. I would not hesitate in recommending him as a clinical supervisor”
Jim doesn’t say much, but what he does say is priceless
What theoretical approaches do you use in supervision?
Supervision with me focuses on the application of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). The setting of your work could be mental or physical health, work or education.
Do you offer supervision online?
Yes. Jim offers supervision both online through Zoom, where we can work together simply and securely.
How is ACT Supervision different?
ACT Supervision is your chance to talk about your work and your cases. You’ll get the chance to learn experientially, deepen your knowledge base and understanding of the ACT framework and develop your therapy skills.
The emphasis is on building your skills through functional analysis and experiential work such as role-playing. This is an invaluable part of your development. Our job here is to embody psychological flexibility by staying focused on functions of behaviour within contexts. This will help us to step over urges to over-think or getting pulled into content, which distracts from the key behavioural processes.
Please get in touch to discuss arranging supervision by completing the contact form below. Book a free consultation session so we can get talking and see if we’re suited professionally, practically and personally.
