BurnoutBurnout

What is burnout any why is it bad?  Can it cause anxiety and is the same as depression?

When should you take time off work and what causes burnout?

Burnout is not just feeling stressed, it much more.  Researchers describe burnout a combination of exhaustion, extreme self-doubt and cynicism about what you do or where you work.

Many people suffer from self-doubt, and it can worsen when you are emotionally drained.  Although many of burnout's causes are organisational e.g. excessive workload or a lack of job control, it doesn't work to wait around for someone else to make improvements in working conditions.

The Openforwards Self-Help-School Burnout library discusses people's experiences of burnout, and how we can build better workplaces practices so that wellbeing is improved.  Take a look.

This isn’t an article about #newyearsresolutions. I lost interest in them years ago. Everyone knows that they’re short lived. Does that make me a grumpy middle-aged man now too set in his ways to bother? Let’s find out. The start of a new year Continue Reading
