Confidence & Self EsteemConfidence Building & Self-Esteem

What are the effects of low self-esteem?  Do confidence and self-esteem mean the same thing?

Many people struggle with a lack of self-worth or doubt in their capabilities.  One way of thinking about self-esteem is to recognise that your mind creates stories about 'who' you are.  The problem isn't that you have a negative self-story, and the solution is not to replace it with positive stories either - there you will find over-confidence and narcissism.

How do you build confidence & self-esteem?  Evidence shows that self-acceptance, compassion and flexible perspective-taking make the most significant difference in how you feel about yourself.

The Openforwards Self-Help School Confidence & Self Esteem library discusses practical ways to work through the challenges of unhelpful core beliefs and struggles with identity.  Enjoy your exploration.
